There are very few female bloggers I can stomach

I know, I write a column about sex and relationships that parodies single NYC life and so maybe I’m being a huge hypocrite, but I can’t stand stereotypical girly writing if it’s not funny, or in the least bit clever, or interesting, or well written. I am by no means implying that all of my writing is clever, interesting, or highly intelligent, but upon starting my column I promised myself I would both mock and embrace my new ‘single chick’ persona and when "He's Just Not That Into You" came out I prayed that I had established myself as a female who woud berate such a book rather than seek out it's 'wisdom.'

That being said, I really enjoyed reading lindsaysim today about this female blogger --wow, I just linked to two people in one sentence and I'm about to do it again, oh god I think that means I officially write things on the internet--

You see she was the reason why I vowed not to ever, EVER:

Have a “pictures of me/pretty pics of me/more picture of me” link on my website.

I have wireless Internet now and so during some insomnia filled nights I shamefully replace reading with browsing the Internet. That being said, I have discovered that a lot of female bloggers have some kind of pictures link on their website, and that most of the pictures are just of them.

Yeah.

Now don’t misinterpret. I appreciate good looking women, and people who are photogenic, but enough is enough. Digital cameras were not invented so “hot” women could post 10 million self-portraits of themselves on the web.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you’re reading this and thinking

“Mindy, I have a lot of digital self portraits of myself on my website, but it’s not cause I think I’m hot and I want everyone to know how hot I am, I just think they’re fun pictures. Just because a majority of them happen to be solely of me doesn’t mean I am self absorbed or want people to think I love myself. And just because some of them feature me in a bikini doesn’t mean I think I have a hotass body that I want all of my fans to see. Ok, so maybe it does, but I am good looking dammit and I want everyone to know how incredibly hot I am because I AM HOT!!! What’s wrong with that?!!

then please don’t e-mail me with a link to your website and tell me that I have to “check it out” and read your “100+ facts about me" link.
